Cleveland
Cavaliers vs. Atlanta Hawks
Place: Asheville Civic Center in North Carolina
Time: 7 p.m. EST
TV/Radio: NBA TV/League Pass, WTAM 1100
Projected Cavaliers Starting Lineup:
PG: Darius Miles
SG: Ricky Davis
SF: LeBron James
PF: Carlos Boozer
C: Zydrunas Ilgauskas
Cavaliers outlook: The Cavaliers won their preaseason debut in
Detroit 100-96 in LeBron James pro debut. James was a catalyst as
the Cavaliers starters blew out the Pistons' starters in the third quarter
building a 20 plus point lead. The leading scorer for Cleveland was
local product J.R. Bremer with 19 and other Cavaliers Carlos Boozer, Ricky
Davis, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Jelani McCoy each had fine first game efforts.
Expect coach Silas to give time to the players who DNP-CD and played limited
minutes.
Cavaliers Injuries: SG DaJuan Wagner (knee) and SF Ira Newble
(patella tendinitis) are both out.
Projected Hawks Starting Lineup:
PG: Jason Terry
SG: Dion Glover
SF: Lee Nailon
PF: Theo Ratliff
C: Nazr Muhammed
Hawks outlook: The Hawks are making their preseason debut after a
disappointing season in which they expected to make the playoffs and an
uncertain offseason because of the impending sale of the franchise.
They traded one of their leading scorers Glenn Robinson for the contract of
Terrell Brandon for cap space in a cost cutting move but match an offer sheet
from Utah to keep guard Jason Terry along with signing swingman Stephen Jackson
who blossomed last year for the champion San Antonio Spurs and slipped through
the free agent cracks. A franchise in transition the Hawks were able
to gain some stability by keeping their interim coach Terry Stoots and General
Manager Billy Knight full time.
Hawks Injuries: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (back), SF Stephen Jackson (just
signed), PG Dan Dickau (Achilles' tendinitis) are out. SG Travis Hansen
(groin pull) is probable and expected to play.
