Cleveland Cavaliers 107-Indiana Pacers 104
By: Brian Hagerman

Indiana rolled into town riding an 11 game winning streak versus the Cleveland Cavaliers at Gund Arena. The Cavs returned home on a 5-game winning streak. Someone's streak was going to break. And when the confetti poured from above, it was the Cavaliers who sent the Eastern Conference's best team packing with a 107-104 thrilling victory.

The Pacers (49-17), sporting the league's best record, stood no match for the growing force of the Cavs (30-36). Ron Artest's 3-pointer to send the game into overtime was badly missed and Indiana became the latest victim in the Cavs hunt for the playoffs.

The Cavaliers seem to be growing confidence with every win and are making noise with their continual rise in the Eastern Conference standings. The win marked the 10th in the past 12 games. Cleveland is 10-3 since the All-Star break and look to continue their 6-game streak as they play the next four at home. With the win, the Cavaliers alone lay claim to the sixth spot.

LeBron James scored 26 points, netting 13 of them in the first quarter. Artest got into early foul trouble while the Cavs were off and running during the first half. With James going off early, the Cavs still had to settle for a first quarter tie at 26 a piece.

When the second quarter began, both teams seemed to take off their defensive shoes and put on the offensive ones. Each team came out of the gates in a hurry with the Pacers, behind Al Harrington, gaining a 42-37 lead. But the Cavs came back on the shooting of Lee Nailon who had 15 big points off the bench. Cleveland outscored the Pacers 36-32 in the quarter to take a 62-58 halftime lead.

Indiana pulled to within two points at 88-86 at the end of the third. After a Kevin Ollie 3-pointer, Cleveland jumped out to a 100-92 lead with seven minutes to play. After an Artest jumper with 1:23 remaining, Indiana found themselves down by only two points at 104-102. But the Pacers were held scoreless the rest of the way and the Zydrunas Ilgauskas hit a couple of free-throws to cap off the win.

Jermaine O'Neal led the way for the Pacers, who had their 7-game winning streak stopped, with 32 points and 12 rebounds. Artest threw in 21 points and added three steals. Harrington (18 pts.) and Jonathan Bender (10 points) came off the bench to score in double-figures.

Boozer was solid with 19 points and 9 boards. James (9-12 shooting) and Nailon (6-7 shooting) both shot well in the first half. Jeff McInnis had another double-double with 16 points and 10 assists, while turning the ball over only twice.

The Cavaliers had 30 assists compared to the Pacers' 22 hand-me-outs. Each team had 15 turnovers. Both teams shot well as Indiana hit on a 55 percent clip while the Cavs shot at a 54 percent clip. Cleveland plays at home against Chicago Tuesday night.
